Global warming is melting ice caps at our
poles, but what does this mean to the state of South
Carolina? Join us for a press conference and showing
of a brief educational film that highlights the impacts
of global warming on South Carolina’s fragile ecosystem.
The film discusses a range of issues from sea level rise
in the Low Country to stream temperatures in the Upstate. Filmmaker
Benjamin vonCramon examines these issues with residents,
business leaders, and scientists to explain what global
warming means to the state and how South Carolina can
benefit from clean energy opportunities.
Our screening precedes the South Carolina Climate Energy
and Commerce Advisory Committee meeting in the Senate
Office Building. At the luncheon, you will hear from
Advisory Committee Members representing the treasured
areas of the Upstate and coastal region: Brad Wyche,
Executive Director of Upstate Forever and Dana Beach,
Executive Director of the South Carolina Coastal Conservation
League. Additionally, we will feature speakers
from the video: Stephen Smith, Executive Director of
Southern Alliance for Clean Energy and Frank Knapp of
the South Carolina Small Business Center Association.
Free copies of the video are available to attendees.
